When I first heard about Luigi Mangione's crime, I thought (then and now) good riddance: the CEO of United Health murdered thousands through corporate greed formalized in policy finalized by his signature.
My tribute is in black and white not only for impact, but also because for me, there is no grey, no middle ground.
I started by creating a high contrast portrait from available public domain photos of his "perp walk," down a police corridor in Altoona PA.
I "sculpted" the figurines in Blender, both males and females, initially in poses of despair for the area defining his right eye (left from our POV). But as I worked my way through the sides of his face and his hair, the poses changed from despair to rage. Most of the figurines are giving the finger to the viewer, a solid fuck you to corporate mayhem.
This also morphed, the bulk (guessing on this one maybe 430 or so figurine out of 973) are holding guns, pointing them at the viewer. The sizes of the figurines also enlarged ever so slightly throughout his neck and shoulders to give depth.
